Declaration of a State of Emergency Due to a Severe Winter Storm

TO:HEADS OF ALL STATE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES

WHEREAS, on January 23, 2026, I issued a State of Emergency due to a severe winter storm, which became effective as of 12:01 a.m. E.S.T on Sunday, January 25, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the severe winter storm resulted in hazardous conditions, including reduced visibility, snow drifts, icy road surfaces, and other roadway hazards that made travel dangerous and created potentially life-threatening conditions for the public; and

WHEREAS, the threat of weather conditions has passed, and the emergency conditions no longer exist;

WHEREAS, although the winter storm has passed, there will be dangerously cold temperatures through this week, and Delawareans should continue to exercise caution and work to protect our most vulnerable neighbors.

NOW THEREFORE, I, MATTHEW MEYER, do hereby declare that: My declaration of a State of Emergency for the State of Delaware dated January 23, 2026, to become effective on January 25, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. E.S.T., is hereby terminated as of Monday, January 26, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. E.S.T.
