Executive Order # 20
TO:HEADS OF ALL STATE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES
RE:EXPANDING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE DELAWARE LGBTQ+ COMMISSION
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2025, Governor Bethany A. Hall-Long issued Executive Order Number One, which established the Delaware LGBTQ+ Commission (the “Commission”) to advise the Governor, the General Assembly, and other policymakers on issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community in Delaware; and
WHEREAS, Executive Order Number One established a Commission of nine members, appointed by the Governor; and
WHEREAS, the breadth and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community in Delaware, spanning all three counties and encompassing a wide range of identities, experiences, advocacy backgrounds, and areas of expertise, warrants a Commission of greater size to more fully and equitably represent those it serves.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MATTHEW MEYER, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Delaware, do hereby DECLARE and ORDER the following:
- The Delaware LGBTQ+ Commission, established by Governor Hall-Long Executive Order Number One, is hereby continued.
- The Commission shall consist of fifteen members, appointed by the Governor, to a term of three years, subject to renewal. Members shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. Any vacancies may be filled by the Governor.
- All other provisions of Executive Order Number One, including the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Commission set forth therein, shall remain in full force and effect.
- This Order supersedes Executive Order Number One solely with respect to the size of the Commission’s membership. In all other respects, Executive Order Number One remains in effect.
