Deputy Chief of Staff is Announced

Governor-elect Carney announced that Sheila Grant will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff. Grant currently serves as Carney’s Chief of Staff in his Washington, D.C. Congressional Office.

“Like Doug, Sheila is one of my most trusted advisers. As my chief of staff in Washington, Sheila has been involved in the most important challenges facing our state. I couldn’t be happier that she has agreed to come back to Delaware to serve as deputy chief of staff. Sheila has an incredible ability to handle tough issues and get things done. She will be able to make a huge contribution in her new role as we prepare to hit the ground running in January,” Carney said.

A native of Wilmington, Grant is a graduate of Ursuline Academy. She has an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in public management from Johns Hopkins University. Grant joined Carney’s staff in 2011. Grant has also served as an aide with Senator Carper and a teacher with AmeriCorps at Nativity Prep School in Wilmington.

A transition website will be announced on Friday where interested individuals can submit resumes for positions in the administration.
