What: Governor John Carney will sign Senate Bill 106. This bill creates a special license plate for members of the Delaware Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Tour of the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware

What: Governor John Carney will tour the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware in Wilmington. Since 1991, the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware has provided temporary residence to nearly 42,000 families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at area hospitals.

Bill Signing-House Bill 226- Restructuring Delaware’s Economic Development

This event is open to the press.

What: Governor John Carney will sign House Bill 226 , a major piece of legislation that restructures Delaware’s economic development efforts, with a focus on supporting Delaware small businesses, innovators and entrepreneurs. He will also sign incorporation paperwork related to the creation of the Delaware Prosperity Partnership. Following the signing ceremony, Governor Carney and attendees will tour the Delaware Innovation Space as one of the stops on Governor Carney’s Jobs & Economy Tour.

This Bill consolidates Delaware law related to child abuse and child sexual abuse training and detection, suicide prevention, bullying, criminal youth gang detection, and teen dating violence and sexual assault and develops a non-academic training program that coordinates the trainings school district and charter school employees are required to receive.

Bill Signing- Senate Bill 3-Lorenzo’s Law

This Bill replaces the stillbirth certificate with a certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth, clarifies what documentation is required upon the occurrence of a stillbirth, and makes technical corrections to the Vital Statistics laws to accurately reflect current practices.

This Bill amends merit compensation bargaining units by allowing non-uniformed correctional employees, including correctional counselors, correctional administrative staff and similar occupations, to bargain over compensation. These correctional employees are presently the only correctional employees excluded from compensation bargaining.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Rehabilitation of the Hearns Pond Dam

This event is open to the press.

What: Governor John Carney will deliver remarks at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Rehabilitation of the Hearns Pond Dam in Seaford. The Delaware Department of Transportation and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control work together as state agencies to design, construct and inspect dams statewide. Hearns Pond Dam was damaged by severe storms in August of 2001 and June of 2006. As a result, DNREC funded a study to evaluate the condition and potential hazards of the dam and developed alternatives to bring the dam into conformance with Delaware Dam Safety Regulations.
