Neighborhood Building Blocks Grant Event

What: Governor John Carney will deliver remarks at the Neighborhood Building Blocks Grant event in Wilmington, highlighting grants that are funding summer and after-school programs for teens and youth. The Neighborhood Building Blocks Fund, administered by representatives from the Delaware Department of Justice, Delaware State Housing Authority, Delaware Economic Development Office, and Office of State Planning Coordination, and the public, is intended to support crime reduction, neighborhood revitalization, and economic development programs statewide, with special emphasis on programs in and around Downtown Development Districts (DDD) and in high crime communities.

Celebration of Life Ceremony for Sidney Balick

Christina River Bridge Groundbreaking

This event is open to the press.

What: Governor John Carney will deliver remarks at the groundbreaking for the construction of a New Bridge over the Christina River in Wilmington. This project is a new multi-modal bridge over the Christina River that will include two travel lanes and shoulders, as well as a 14’ wide bicycle/pedestrian path. The path will connect to the Riverfront walkway as well as other bicycle/pedestrian facilities in the area. The project extends from the area near Frawley Stadium across the Christina River to its east bank in the vicinity of Market Street/Walnut Street split of Business US 13. The project also alleviates traffic congestion and improves circulation near Riverfront attractions.
