Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Newark Regional Transportation Center

This event is open to the press.

What: Governor John Carney will deliver remarks at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Newark Regional Transportation Center. The Groundbreaking ceremony serves as the beginning stages of the construction of an enhanced and improved passenger rail station in Newark, the existing SEPTA rail station. The improved station will provide an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant high-level platform, expand parking, and provide significantly improved passenger amenities including a station building with bathrooms. This project is partially funded by a $10M TIGER IV Grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Other funding sources include the TTF, federal funds, the University of Delaware, City of Newark, WILMAPCO, and New Castle County.

Bill Signing- House Bill 34 and House Bill 94

This event is open to the press.

What: Governor John Carney will sign House Bill 34 and House Bill 94. House Bill 34 expands the list of persons eligible to participate in the Ada Leigh Soles Memorial Professional Librarian and Archivist Incentive Scholarship Program to include employees of non-public libraries in Delaware that join the Delaware Library Consortium. House Bill 94 updates the statute governing the Delaware Division of Libraries, revising terminology to reflect the varied roles of Delaware libraries in the 21st Century. The bill also codifies existing responsibilities of the Division of Libraries related to coordination of state library technology.

What: Governor John Carney will sign Senate Bill 48. Under this Act, a pharmacist who dispenses naloxone under an established set of circumstances is not subject to disciplinary or other adverse action under any professional licensing statute or criminal liability, or liable for damages related to injuries or death sustained in connection with administering the drug, unless it is established that the pharmacist caused the injuries or death willfully, wantonly, or by gross negligence.

The mission of the US Cyber Challenge (USCC) is to significantly reduce the shortage in the cyber workforce by serving as the premier program to identify, attract, recruit and place the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. 2017 marks the eighth year of Delaware’s participation in the program.
