Support Paid Parental Leave for State Workers and Their Families

Research shows children and their families do better with paid leave. Offering paid parental leave to state workers makes Delaware a more attractive employer and offers a long-overdue benefit to workers. Our employees should not have to worry about finances when it comes time to start a family.

As the largest employer in the state, Delaware should take the lead on this issue. Paid parental leave will support state workers and their families – and help us recruit and retain employees.

Under House Bill 3:

  • Full-time state employees, including teachers, would be eligible for 12 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave after one year of employment.
  • Parents would be eligible for leave for up to one year after the birth of the child or adoption of a child under the age of six.
