May 1, 2008 – Gov. Minner addressed the participants of the 2008 Delaware State AAA-Ford Autoskills competition at Dover Downs. Two students from five Delaware high schools were chosen to compete in a hands-on automotive contest requiring students to use skills learned in the classroom on actual vehicles. Pictured with Gov. April 22, 2008 – Governor Minner signed a proclamation declaring April 22, 2008 as Equal Pay Day in Delaware to recognize the full value of women’s skills and contributions to the labor force and encourage businesses to ensure women are paid fairly. April 21, 2008 – Governor Minner met with Judy Grasso’s fifth grade science class at Harlan Elementary in Wilmington to talk about Project Webfoot’s environmental educational opportunities. Delaware leads the nation in Project Webfoot participation, a program which provides learning materials to every fifth grade in every public school in the state and prepares students to become environmental stewards in protecting wetlands and watersheds. April 10, 2008 – Governor Minner held a ceremonial bill signing in her Legislative Hall office for Senate Bill 201, which creates gold star family license plates for close relatives of military service members killed in action and creates special license plates for veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Vietnam War, among others. February 7, 2008 – Gov. Minner addressed the audience at the 2008 Delaware Cancer Consortium Retreat in Dover and thanked the Consortium members for their work in the fight against cancer. The Delaware Cancer Consortium is responsible for the creation of  such initiatives as the Delaware Cancer Treatment program and the Screening for Life program, which has helped Delaware’s cancer incidence rate decrease four times as much as the national average and cancer death rate decline twice as much as the national rate. January 17, 2008 – During her State of the State Address, Governor Minner recognized students Cameron Galbreath and Kelsey Burris, who are enrolled in Delaware’s Student Equals Degree (SEED) scholarship program.
