June 17, 2006 – Gov. Minner, chin deep in the Rehoboth Bay, declared the water was cleaner than in the past at the 6th Annual Governor’s Wade-In hosted by the Center for the Inland Bays. Since her first year as Governor, Minner dons bright white sneakers once a year as she walks out into the bay until she cannot see her feet anymore, which is known as the sneaker index. This year, the sneaker index hit a record depth of 54 inches.
