Governor Launches MyMarketPlace.Delaware.Gov
Doing Business with the State Now Easier & More Transparent for Small Employers
Dover – Governor Jack Markell officially launched a new tool to make it easier for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and other employers to do business with the State of Delaware. The new website – MyMarketPlace.Delaware.Gov– will serve as a single information and resource repository for companies interested in bidding for State contracts.
“When small business owners are busy creating jobs, they don’t have much time to spare navigating the bidding process,” said Governor Markell. “This site will make it easier for entrepreneurs to understand and find opportunities. Broadening our pool of vendors will also help taxpayers get more for their money and improve transparency.”
The new procurement-based website was developed by Delaware’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and includes an enhanced version of bids.delaware.gov, which Governor Markell launched in 2009.
“MyMarketPlace.Delaware.Gov will not only provide the business community with an incredibly valuable procurement resource,” said OMB Director Ann Visalli, “It will also provide the State with the feedback and information we need to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes and relationships with local companies.”
The website will provide easy access to State bid solicitations, including prior solicitations and currently awarded contracts, as well as spend analysis, allowing the public to view State spending trends and details of contract usage. Bonding and licensing resources will be available for potential vendors who need additional information on obtaining proper certificates and licenses. The public can also access business development tools, customer satisfaction surveys, and “I Found it Cheaper,” which allows individuals to submit suggestions on how the State can procure goods for less money. Additionally, as a business development resource, MyMarketPlace.Delaware.Gov will provide reports on local, minority and women business enterprises, veteran and service disabled veteran companies participating in the State procurement process.
The site was launched at the Governor’s Entrepreneurial Business Conference, where Governor Markell was joined by Cabinet Secretaries representing nearly every State agency.
“We are working hard to further streamline State government and break down barriers to creating jobs,” added Markell. “Employers want to expand their businesses in a place with strong public education, good roads, safe neighborhoods, and a community that knows how to work together to get things done. All of our Cabinet Secretaries are focused on how their efforts can impact job growth.”
