Governor Markell Asks Delawareans to Pause and Reflect on the Courage and Contributions of our Nation’s Veterans

"Our veterans carved from their courage an indelible legacy of liberty and freedom."

Governor Jack Markell encouraged Delawareans today to take time to pause and reflect on the centuries of sacrifice our nation’s millions of veterans have made and honor those veterans’ contributions to our nation’s continuing freedom.

“Our veterans carved from their courage an indelible legacy of liberty and freedom,” Markell said.

As the Commander and Chief of Delaware’s National Guard, the Governor has had the opportunity to welcome back to our state from tours of duty abroad so many brave servicemen and women.

“The moment when you see a soldier reunited with family after months in the line of fire – that moment makes more clear than any words ever could how much they and their families sacrifice for our state and our nation,” Markell said. “We should pause and reflect not only on the sacrifices made by those who served but on their incredible accomplishments.”
