Markell Met with Soldiers and Families via Video Teleconference

WILMINGTON – Gov. Jack Markell visited the Delaware National Guard headquarters today to meet with our soldiers in Iraq and their loved ones.  The Delaware Army National Guard’s 262nd Convoy Security Company has had 140 soldiers deployed in Iraq since May 2009.  The unit is headquartered in Dagsboro, and is due to return home in May of 2010.

“I want to let you know how much all of us here in the First State appreciate your hard work, your service, your courage and your commitment to our great nation,” said Markell.  “I also want to thank the families across Delaware and the United States for all of their efforts and sacrifice.  On behalf of everyone from Claymont to Delmar, I want to thank you, salute you, and wish you a happy, healthy and safe new year.”
