Markell Launches ‘Reality Check’ Budget Briefing Tour

Governor will attend town hall meeting with Rep. Blakey in Dover

DOVER – Governor Jack Markell will deliver the first of what will be many briefings to the public on the state’s historic budget challenge Monday in Dover.

Markell will attend a town hall-style meeting hosted by Rep. Donald Blakey at Nellie H. Stokes Elementary School in Dover (3874 Upper King Road). The meeting begins at 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

The briefing, called a “Reality Check on the State Budget Challenge,” offers an honest assessment of the state’s historic shortfall and puts Delaware’s challenges into a larger national context. The presentation makes clear that in total dollars, the current shortfall is the largest fiscal challenge Delaware has had to meet in its history.

More events will be announced next week.
