Governor Minner Issues Statement on the Passing of Delaware Senator James T. Vaughn and Orders Lowering of State and U.S. Flags in His Memory

Dover Governor Ruth Ann Minner issued the following statement this evening following news of the death of Senator James T. Vaughn:

“I worked with Senator Vaughn for many years, dating back to his service with the Delaware State Police and Department of Correction,” Gov. Minner said. “I always had the utmost respect for him as a Senator. He was very thorough in his research of the issues and worked hard to represent the people of his district. Jim was a man of honesty and integrity and clearly that was obvious to his constituents, who kept him in office for nearly 30 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Sylvia, and the rest of his family.”

Gov. Minner also ordered that Delaware and U.S. flags be lowered until the morning following services for Sen. Vaughn in recognition of his dedicated service to his state and country.
