U.S., Delaware Flags To Be Lowered
Flags Lowered in Recognition of Memorial Day
Dover – Governor Ruth Ann Minner announced today that Delaware flags should be lowered to half staff on Monday, May 28, 2007 until noon, in recognition of Memorial Day. This is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Bush to lower the U.S. flags on Monday, May 28, which he has declared as a day of prayer for permanent peace.
“On this Memorial Day, I urge all Delawareans to participate in the flag lowering and take time to remember our nation’s fallen soldiers,” said Governor Ruth Ann Minner. “Our reflection and reverence to the memory of those who gave their lives for our country ensures that we will forever remember and reflect on our past and present, as we hope for a peaceful future.”
The President also proclaimed the hour beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 28 as a time to unite in prayer, and he urged all Americans to observe the National Moment of Remembrance beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Memorial Day.
As with the U.S. flags, the Delaware flags will return to full staff on Monday, May 28 at noon.
