U.S., Delaware Flags To Be Lowered

Flags Lowered in Recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week

Dover Governor Ruth Ann Minner announced today that Delaware flags should be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day, which recognizes and honors the service and sacrifice of the men and women whose devotion to duty brings honor to our system of justice. Peace Officers Memorial Day is recognized as a part of Police Week, which runs from May 13 through May 19, 2007. This is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Bush to lower the U.S. flags on Tuesday, May 15, which he has declared Peace Officers Memorial Day.

As with the U.S. flags, the Delaware flags will return to full staff on Wednesday, May 16.
