Governor Minner Joins the Nation’s Governors in Recognizing “Healthy America Week”
Dover – Governor Ruth Ann Minner issued a proclamation earlier this week recognizing “Healthy America Week” in support of the National Governors Association’s (NGA) Healthy America initiative.
“The State of Delaware has been recognized as a national leader in promoting healthy lifestyles among its citizens and state employees,” said Gov. Minner. “It just makes sense that we would do our part in promoting an initiative that will positively impact the lives and health of people nationwide.”
Under the leadership of NGA’s chairman Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, states across the country recognize this week as an opportunity to highlight and promote the importance of citizen health and well-being. Delaware is one of 27 states participating in this part of the NGA’s year-long commitment to health.
In December, Gov. Minner spoke to her colleagues at the NGA’s winter meeting about Delaware’s Health Rewards program, which provides state employees an opportunity to take advantage of comprehensive health assessments to better their health. Later this month, Gov. Minner will speak at C-Change, which is a national coalition led by former President George Bush to address cancer, on Delaware’s landmark “Cancer Treatment Program,” which provides cancer treatment for the uninsured.
