Peggy Strine Named New Chair of Riverfront Development Corporation
Wilmington – Governor Ruth Ann Minner has named Peggy E. Strine as the new chairperson of the Wilmington Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC). Strine is replacing Jack Malloy, who is leaving as chair of the board.
“Peggy’s experience in economic and community development make her a great fit for this position,” Gov. Minner said. “I appreciate her continued commitment to the board and I am confident she will lead this organization to future growth and lasting success.”
“I am honored to take the reins as chair of the Riverfront Development Corporation Board,” said Strine, Senior Vice President of Citizens Bank. “This organization has made a huge impact along Wilmington’s riverfront and I look forward to leading the organization through many new and exciting projects. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with many business and civic leaders along with the City of Wilmington and the Governor’s Office to assist the talented Riverfront staff in their continued efforts to promote Wilmington’s riverfront and to stimulate and revitalize the area.”
Strine, 60, serves as senior vice president of Public Affairs and Community Development at Citizens Bank in Wilmington. Starting her career in 1969, she was supervisor of the Regional Check Processing Center for the Federal Reserve Bank. In 1975, Strine joined Mellon Bank as a teller and assistant branch manager. She served in several other capacities with Mellon, including business development officer and vice president of Marketing and Community Development, which was the position she held when Mellon was acquired by Citizens Bank in 2001.
She currently serves as the board president for the First State Community Action Agency. Strine also sits on the boards of directors of the Latin American Community Center, the Delaware Chapter of the ACLU, Governor’s Commission on Volunteer Services, and Delaware Community Investment Corporation. She has formerly served as the president of the National Association of Bank Women, Financial Women International and a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Small Business and First State Community Loan Fund Board. Strine lives in Hockessin with her husband, Leo.
