AAA Mid-Atlantic Opens Newark Operations Center
Newark – Governor Ruth Ann Minner and officials from AAA Mid-Atlantic officially opened the company’s new operations center in Newark during a ribbon cutting ceremony today. This Newark operations center will add approximately 500 new jobs to Delaware’s workforce.
The Newark Operations Center will house AAA Mid-Atlantic Roadside Assistance call takers and dispatchers, member services counselors and insurance sales/services/claims staff. The Newark operations center will field approximately two million phone calls a year, or 5,300 calls a day from members that need AAA Mid-Atlantic’s roadside assistance service. AAA Mid-Atlantic’s member service associates will also assist more than 600,000 callers annually with questions concerning travel, financial services and non-roadside assistance automotive issues at the Newark site.
“In Delaware, we are home to many great companies; today we add one more,” said Gov. Minner. “I am pleased that AAA Mid-Atlantic will be providing this outstanding customer service at the company’s new operations center here in Newark. I am also pleased that this facility will add almost 500 new jobs to Delaware. AAA Mid-Atlantic’s expansion into Delaware is also expected to add more than $100 million to Delaware’s economy each year.”
The operations center and the new headquarters collectively will add 850 jobs to Delaware.
“Delaware truly distinguished itself in the way it welcomed AAA Mid-Atlantic,” said Allen J. DeWalle, President and Chief Executive Officer of AAA Mid-Atlantic. “This new location is the first of two significant moves to Delaware for us and we are excited to see the ribbon officially cut on our Newark Operations Center. Next spring we will take the next step and open our new corporate headquarters on the Wilmington riverfront. AAA Mid-Atlantic is pleased to be here and looks forward to doing much more of its business in Delaware for many years into the future.”
The AAA Mid-Atlantic region serves 3.5 million members in five states and Washington, D.C. and has 2,700 employees.
