Governor Ruth Ann Minner Nominates Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner
Dover – Governor Ruth Ann Minner Tuesday nominated John H. Cordrey of Georgetown to be the state’s first Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner.
“I wanted the first individual to hold this job to be someone who is above all fair-minded and can balance the competing interests involved in this industry,” Gov. Minner said. “I firmly believe that Jack will do an outstanding job.”
Cordrey, 45, of Georgetown, is an attorney with his own practice, John H. Cordrey, P.A., formerly known as Cordrey & Clark, a position he has held since 1986. Previously, he served as an attorney with the firm of Ridgely and Ridgely and as a clerk in Sussex County Superior Court. Cordrey has also served as a staff attorney with the Delaware State Senate since 1989.
The position of Delaware Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner was created by HB 660 in 2000. The position replaces a five-member commission that went out of existence last year.
This position requires Senate confirmation.
