Office of the Governor


The Office of Governor John Carney offers full-time and part-time internships throughout the fall, spring, and summer for high school or college students. Internships are available at the Governor’s offices in both Wilmington, DE and Dover, DE. Interns will be asked to research legislation, answer phones, assist with constituent communications, and generally support the Governor’s staff.

Legal Interns

The Office of Governor John Carney  is seeking candidates for legal support responsibilities. Candidate will work alongside Office of the Governor attorneys during all phases of legislative review, from the initiation of State Senate and House Bills through final approval by the Governor. Work assignments may include, but not be limited to, legal research, drafting responsibilities (i.e. memoranda), and attendance at litigation and policymaking meetings. This position is a great opportunity for a candidate with aspirations for a career in government law.

Candidate must pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
Starting date: 5/15/17 approximate

Desired Class Level: rising 2RD, 2ED, 3RD, 3ED, 4ED


Additional Opportunities:

The Division of Family Services within the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families, offers unpaid internships to students in accredited higher learning institutions. Students can be from any discipline related to behavioral science, social work, criminal justice, social science or similar. Internships are subject to availability of DFS supervisors and are not guaranteed to exist. DFS has offices in all three counties. Selected interns are expected to be work in a professional setting and assist child welfare professionals with a variety of tasks and duties. Prospective interns must undergo a criminal background check and drug testing prior to joining DFS. Any interested student may contact Joseph Smack, or 302-633-2605.
