December 12, 2014  - Governor Markell discusses the importance of continued investments in Delaware’s libraries.

“This past week, we celebrated the groundbreaking for what will be the state’s 14th library opening or expansion since 2009, bringing our state’s investment in library construction to nearly thirty million dollars over the past seven years,” said Governor Markell. “By supporting public libraries, we can help give everyone the resources and information they need to increase their knowledge, find new economic opportunities, and build stronger bonds within their communities.”

Delaware Receives $35 Million for Plan to Improve Health Care Quality and Lower Costs

December 16, 2014 - Delaware has been awarded $35 million in federal funds that will fuel efforts to improve patient care, support the health of all Delawareans, and reduce the costs of care. The grant, announced today by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), is designed to help states implement innovative approaches to delivering and paying for health care. The state’s grant proposal presentation, which was led by Governor Jack Markell, highlighted the intended focus to amplify investments already being made by Delaware’s health care system to transform health care delivery from a fee-for-service system toward one that rewards quality care and efficiency.
