Open Data Challenge

This event is open to the press.

What: Governor John Carney will join teams of coders from across Delaware as they work to harness the power of public data at a weekend-long hackathon organized by Open Data Delaware. The 2017 Open Data Challenge is the final event in a series of sessions focused on creating, designing and developing technical applications with open data in Delaware. Two teams will be selected as winners and awarded grants ($12,500 for first place, $5,000 for second place) to help them bring their ideas to fruition and produce useable technology for the public. Events like the Open Data Challenge are a key component of the effort to expand Delaware’s innovation economy and support the state’s growing roster of tech firms, as recommended in the Action Plan for Delaware.

Milestone in Helping to House Delawareans in Need State Rental Assistance Program’s (SRAP) 5th Anniversary Event

What: Governor John Carney and others will mark the fifth anniversary of the State Rental Assistance Program, which provides help to low-income Delawareans who require affordable housing and supportive services to live safely and independently. A partnership of three state agencies, SRAP has housed about 1,200 individuals and families over the last five years, and several clients will share their personal stories at the event.
